As for romance scammers I have come across quite a few of those as well and have learnt to detect them almost right away these days.
I was one of the lucky ones who almost got sucked in but when they asked for help and asked for money with one of those sad hard
luck stories I realised the game that was being played and got rid of this person right away.
One of the worst dating sites I have come across where they all seem to congregate is on (removed to protect you).
This one is particularly bad for them for some reason.
I have to admit I have allowed others to contact me only to see how far they would go and see what their story is in
comparison to the last person who had tried.
They all have a similar tale to tell generally that they lost their wife in a plane crash or some sort of accident...
sometimes along with their children.
Generally they tell you that they have a great job and that they sometimes have to travel and stay away from their homes
(home being generally in the US some where) for long periods of time.
They tell you how they think you are the best thing and have made a great difference to their life constantly trying to
build you up saying that they Love you.
They tell you that they are in Ghana or anywhere for that matter and that they will be finished a working contract of
some sort and then that they would then love to come to Australia to meet you. Always a big build up on this and their
declaration of continued love.
You may not hear from them for a few days then suddenly they reappear and are all appolagetic because they have either
been sick.....or a member of their family..... possibly a child is sick..... They need you to do something for
them ...i had one guy ask me to send him money for a book he needed for his work and asked me to send the money to
a ladies name who he said was the cashier of the book store....which made me then wonder if infact it was a woman
trying to scam me.
I had another with a sob story about running over a young girl and needed the money to pay her hospital expenses and
his fine ....it goes on and on all pretty much similiar signs once you know how to detect them right away.
The way some of the scammers type and say things compared to the pictures on their profiles do not match, just another
few things that I have noticed.
One time I got a message from one site then the exact same message some months later from another dating site the only
difference was the user name, email address and the photographs. All Photographs are professional looking and usually they
only have one or two, I have only ever come across one who had four.
I have had two guys say that they were here in Australia one living in Sydney, how ever he was leaving to go over to
Ghana to meet up with clients as he was a merchant with precious stones and the other said that he was actually visiting
Brisbane and was here at the time of contact, for two weeks, then when I suggested (on purpose) that we meet,
suddenly he just found out that he had to fly out the next day after being at a conference all day and that it
wouldnt be possible to meet. This guy infact is from your site and his user name is 'lordshadow' goes under the name of
Jonnas jonnaslanre@hotmail.com. Says he is from US but have my suspicions and would say that he is from ghana.
He actually tells me he is over there working at the moment which is also a familiar tale with what others generally
tell you as well ... All of them saying that is where they are working when you are chatting to them.
I now make it my business to seek these people out and play them long enough to have them reveal their true colours as
I know a lot of others who use your site and other sites as well and they along with others need to be aware and warned
what to look for when these people message them.
